AASCEND Celebrating Autism Awareness with the SF Giants Heading to get the job done and have some fun! All these people in “Triple Alley” were there to celebrate Autism Awareness. There were free hot dogs in Triple Alley! We headed onto the field for the first round of interviews and filming. We were in a kind of net cage along the first base line in right field. It was like being on Mars. Filming and interviews for the AASCEND TV show began. That’s Giants star Will Clark by our own Will Bernick. Will Clark has an autistic son and has been supporting autism with the Giants for sixteen years. Where there are two Wills there must be a way! The indefatigable Matthew McIntyre filming for AASCEND. Stay tuned for an upcoming AASCEND TV segment with the result! Will Bernick and Wes Lam interviewed the Clark family. Warming up out there Will Clark beautifully signed one of our jerseys. Then after a long journey through caverns measureless to man… We passed through the tunnel that brings umpires onto the field. We came out by home plate… and the Giants dugout. Chalking the batters’ boxes The interview began. That’s Sergio Romo, ace pitcher with three Giants World Series rings, at the left, then Will Clark, and AASCEND co-chair Greg Yates in the orange at center, then the Giants’ Therese ViƱal, and interviewer Wes Lam. We are surrounded by autistics and allies, with AASCEND Board member and Job Club organizer Mike Bernick in the fedora to the right. We were on the Jumbotron! Matt at work There were a lot of big fancy cameras pointing at us. We asked questions we hoped would help the assembled crowd better understand autism… …and we had a great time! And of course there was a game against the Marlins… …which we won! Starting to head home Boats trolling for home runs in McCovey Cove The kayakers probably had a better chance. Suddenly out of the black of the southern sky flew a swarm of drones! …which made moving pictures in the sky. Docked right there was the ferry boat ready to carry North Bay revelers home.
